The challenges 

Despite a slight overall decline in total job vacancies in 2024, finance & accounting vacancies rose by 8%, and temporary finance roles grew by 7–19% across 20242025. These increases highlight a persistent shortage of talent but also a high-turnover as Finance professionals in Belgium typically remain in roles for just 1.9 years on average.

Financial Market & Business Acumen 

Recruiting for a Finance role also means evaluating the ability to discuss P&L impacts, cash flow, and balance sheet drivers with credibility, understanding how economic trends, interest rates, and inflation influence finance roles as well as assessing the candidate’s awareness of emerging finance priorities such as ESG reporting and digital transformation.
